Zuckerberg loses $7 BILLION on Facebook blackout
Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg's net worth dropped by $7 billion on Monday, Forbes reported. Facebook's stock plunged -4,89% amid widespread outages and revelations from a whistleblower. Reports of issues accessing Facebook — as well as Facebook-owned platforms Messenger, Instagram, and WhatsApp — arose around 11:45 a.m. ET on Monday, according to user reports on Downdetector.
Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp saw outages earlier worldwide, so DownDetector.
Nearly 124,000 outages have been registered on Facebook, almost 97,000 on Instagram, and more than 33,000 on WhatsApp, DownDetector reveals.
"We’re aware that some people are having trouble accessing our apps and products," Facebook spokesman Andy Stone said on Twitter. "We’re working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible, and we apologize for any inconvenience."
WhatsApp posted on Twitter it is "aware that some people are experiencing issues with" the application "at the moment".
"We’re working to get things back to normal and will send an update here as soon as possible. Thanks for your patience!" tweets the company.
The outage's cause remains still unknown.
