Alec Baldwin fired prop gun, killing сinematographer Halyna Hutchins and injuring director

According to Variety, the actor's prop gun misfired during filming a scene in New Mexico on Thursday, causing the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and wounding director Joel Souza.

Hutchins was transported by helicopter to University of New Mexico Hospital in Albuquerque, where she died. Souza is currently in critical condition and was taken by ambulance to Christus St. Vincent Regional Medical Center in Santa Fe.
The Sheriff’s office said in a statement that Hutchins and Souza "were shot when a prop firearm was discharged by Alec Baldwin, 68, producer and actor."

Rust Movie Productions LLC, the production entity behind the film, issued a statement on Thursday night, saying that the cast and crew are "devastated" and that the company is cooperating with the investigation.

The film's producers have already released a statement in which they expressed condolences to Halyna's family, and also confirmed that the production has been halted for the time being. No charges have been filed at this moment and the police are currently investigating all the circumstances of the incident.

"According to investigators it appears that the scene being filmed involved the use of a prop firearm when it was discharged," police said. "Detectives are investigating how and what type of projectile was discharged."
Brandon Lee's family also reacted to the accident. In February 1993 he was shot during the production of the film "The Crow."
