Jack Dorsey steps aside as Twitter CEO

All good things must come to and end and what a run it has been for Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey.
Dorsey confirmed via a Tweet on Monday that he will be stepping aside from his role as CEO at the social media company and that he will be replaced by CTO Parag Agrawal.

While Dorsey will step down from the role with immediate effect, he will remain on Twitter’s board until the company’s stockholder meeting in 2022.
It was a tenure that wasn’t without controversy as Dorsey faced criticism over the website's actions in relation to freedom of speech, including when Donald Trump was famously removed from the app while president.
people tend to conflate jack dorsey with twitter censorship, but my sense is he's actually done what he could these past few years to keep the platform relatively open. things will be worse without him, not better. godspeed, bird king.

“I’ve decided to leave Twitter because I believe the company is ready to move on from its founders. My trust in Parag as Twitter’s CEO is deep. His work over the past 10 years has been transformational. I’m deeply grateful for his skill, heart and soul. It’s his time to lead,” said Dorsey.
Agrawal has worked at Twitter for more than 10 years and has been CTO since 2017.
Deep gratitude for @jack and our entire team, and so much excitement for the future. Here’s the note I sent to the company. Thank you all for your trust and support 💙 https://t.co/eNatG1dqH6 pic.twitter.com/liJmTbpYs1

“I want to thank the board for their confidence in my leadership and Jack for his continued mentorship, support, and partnership,” said Agrawal.
So what next for Dorsey? Bitcoin?
In his on words from last summer: “If I were not at Square or Twitter, I’d be working on #bitcoin."
In June 2021 during #Bitcoin2021Miami Jack Dorsey said - If #Bitcoin needed more help than square and twitter, I would leave them for #BITCOIN
