Twitter launches crypto team

With the introduction of digital assets and decentralized applications, Twitter announced the creation of its own cryptocurrency team.

The new team will be led by blockchain engineer Tess Rinearson. Prior to joining Twitter, Rinearson worked at the Tendermint Core software and at the software payments firm Interstellar.

First, we’ll be exploring how we can support the growing interest among creators to use decentralized apps to manage virtual goods and currencies, and to support their work and communities," tweeted Rinearson. "We’ll be exploring how ideas from crypto communities can help us push the boundaries of what’s possible with identity, community, ownership and more."

Earlier, Twitter launched a Bitcoin tipping service for iOS users in September and later began testing it on Android devices. The company is also working on a feature that will allow users to showcase their NFTs.
